Title

Red Ground Enamel Bowl with Chrysanthemum

粉彩胭脂紅錦地菊花碗

Descriptions

This finely crafted porcelain bowl from the Qing Dynasty features an open mouth, deep curved walls, and a short circular foot. The interior of the bowl is glazed in white, adorned with an enamel-painted branch bearing five vibrant chrysanthemum flowers. The colors display a rich variation, creating an elegant and sophisticated appearance. The exterior of the bowl is coated with a crimson glaze, with incised ruyi patterns along the rim and foot, complemented by eight-sided decorative diamond patterns and painted folded chrysanthemums, symbolizing the concept of "adding beauty to splendor." The base bears a blue underglaze inscription in Song-style regular script, stating "Made in the Qianlong reign," accompanied by double square seal imprints.

This bowl is part of a pair, and this description pertains to one of them. The floral design on both bowls complements each other, with each bowl exhibiting distinct handling of posture and details, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of the Qianlong official kiln. The term "adding beauty to splendor" refers to the intricate composition formed by the eight-sided decorative diamond patterns and the chrysanthemum floral motifs. The vibrant colors, delicate brushstrokes, and refined design collectively create an image reminiscent of a tapestry of blossoms.
